The T3 Pickup
Never officially sold in the US, VW's T3 pickup has nonetheless developed a strong fanbase thanks to the 25 year import rule. Available as Sinka (single cab) or DoppelKabine (double cab), these unique vehicles never fail to garner attention for their quirky looks and remarkable Swiss army knife utility.
Arguably the most utilitarian of the T3 variants, the pritschenwagen or flat bed pickup was available in a variety of trim levels, from the humble work hauler to the fully kitted out TriStar and Jagdwagen models. These could be purchased in 2, 3 and 4 door versions and with 2 or 4wd drivetrains.
As these vehicles have aged various plastic and rubber parts have become brittle or gotten lost through the years. A remarkable number of parts are still available from the manufacturer's Heritage division, but for those which are no longer available (NLA) 3D printing can serve as functional replacements.
Maintaining one of these vehicles can be a fun journey thanks to the global community of tinkerers and small businesses that have grown to support them. It's our pleasure to be able to give back to this community in a small measure. Along the way, we have 'discovered' a few parts which were never offered new but can help make the T3 platform run smoother, look better and quiet some of the rattles that come with age.
We hope you enjoy the offering here. As the majority of these vehicles are now 35+ years old (and some of them quite abused) tolerances can change. Fortunately print-on-demand technology means we can make alterations to suit on an individual basis. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or custom needs: bill@strandforst.com
